Visit Dallas this 19th of October for the city’s penultimate showing of Cirque du Soleil’s “Songblazers: A Journey to Country Music!” After more than three weeks at the Music Hall at Fair Park, the high-flying tribute to the honky-tonk ditties of the West will surprise all in a stupendous Saturday special. “Songblazers,” directed and written by Amy Tinkham, is a two-hour theatrical event that chronicles an acoustic history that dates back to the 1860s!
Classic country songs from the legendary legacies of Hank Williams, the Dixie Chicks, Billy Ray Cyrus, and more will soar through the air, as will fearless acrobats in bold, gravity-defying fashion. There’s line dancing lined up, traditional circus acts, too, with an inspiring saga of two aspiring country music stars wrangling everything together. This year, in official partnership with Gibson, Cirque du Soleil presents “Songblazers: A Journey Into Country Music” LIVE in select cities throughout the United States! Months after a commended debut in Nashville, the traveling production captured the hearts of audiences in Dallas like a good ol’ wranglin’ from a rodeo roundup. The four-week festivity is almost up, but not without a weekend to remember it by. Catch the troupe’s next-to-last performance at the Music Hall at Fair Park this Saturday, October 19th!
Celebrated as “a love letter to country music,” “Songblazers” follows the epic saga of two musicians who embark on a grand journey to craft the ultimate song, exploring the heritage born from honky tonk bars in a story equal parts comedic, action-packed, and soul-stirring. The event borrows 35 classic tunes from the last three centuries in homage to icons, such as Hank Williams (“I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry”), Merle Haggard (“Workin’ Man Blues”), Shania Twain (“Man! I Feel Like a Woman!), Billy Ray Cyrus (“Achy Breaky Heart”), and MANY MORE!
